India has taken over a wind turbine project in Sri Lanka that was previously assigned to a Chinese company.

In 2019, Sri Lanka awarded a Chinese company a $12 million project. Wind turbines will be built on three tiny islands in the Palk Strait, which separates India and Sri Lanka. India has been wary of China’s increasing political and economic might in the South Asian country. In Sri Lanka, China and India have been vying for significant infrastructure projects. Sri Lanka has requested further loans from both countries in order to supplement its foreign reserves. India has stated that it will comply with the request for a new line that will be used to import vital goods like as rice, wheat flour, legumes, sugar, and pharmaceuticals.
