In the illegal sand mining case, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey was sentenced to 14 days in judicial jail on Friday, February 11. The nephew of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has been detained on suspicion of money laundering. Honey’s and others’ homes were searched by the ED in Punjab’s Mohali, Ludhiana, Rupnagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Pathankot. After searches by ED officers, almost Rs 10 crore in cash was discovered, along with claimed incriminating papers connected to a sand mining company, property transactions, mobile phones, gold worth Rs 21 lakh, and a Rolex watch for Rs 12 lakh.
