Ilaiyaraaja, a legendary music director, will soon write for A R Rahman’s Firdaus Orchestra, an all-women musical ensemble. Ilaiyaraaja has appeared in over 1,000 Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, and other films. A R Rahman, who used to play keyboard for her team in the late 1980s and early 1990s, approached her with the request.
‘It was an honour to welcome Maestro @ilaiyaraaja to our Firdaus Studio… Hope he composes something incredible for our @FirdausOrch to play in the future!,’ Rahman tweeted on his verified Twitter profile, beside a photo of him and Ilaiyaraaja at the Firdaus Studios.
Ilaiyaraaja, a newcomer to the microblogging site, responded within hours, tagging Rahman and saying, “request accepted.. will start composing shortly.”
‘We can’t wait,’ Firdaus Studios remarked in reaction to Ilaiyaraaja’s news. It is possible to do anything.’
