Hindu Temple In Dubai Is Set For Grand Opening Today

The grand opening of a Hindu temple in a multireligious complex in Dubai is scheduled today. The recently built temple reportedly houses Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book, as well as up to 16 Hindu deities. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, will be the chief guest and Indian Ambassador to the UAE Sunjay Sudhir will be the guest of honor at today’s opening ceremony.

On October 5, 2022, Dussehra, the temple will open its doors to visitors of all faiths. Speaking of the same, Sudhir said that the temple satisfies the spiritual needs of the substantial Hindu population in the UAE. 

“It is good news for the Indian community that a new Hindu temple is being inaugurated today in Dubai, serving the religious aspirations of the large Hindu community living in the UAE,” he said. The new temple is situated next to a Gurudwara that was inaugurated in 2012.

“We thank the graciousness and generosity of the Dubai Government for providing land for the temple and facilitating its construction. We also thank the Government of the UAE for providing a second home to 3.5 million Indians where they live, work, and contribute to the economy and society,” Sudhir said. “We are honored that the UAE Minister of Tolerance His Highness Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Al Nahayan inaugurated the new Hindu temple in Dubai today.
