Charanjit Singh, the captain of India’s hockey team in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, died of a heart attack at his home in Una, Himachal Pradesh, on Thursday. The former player was 90 years old, and his 91st birthday was coming up next month. He was a part of the Olympic silver-winning team in 1960 and coached the Olympic gold-winning team in 1964. In 1962, he was a member of the Asian Games silver-winning team.
“Dad became incapacitated five years ago after suffering a stroke. He used to need a cane to walk, but his health had deteriorated in recent months, and he died this morning “V P Singh was reported by PTI as saying.
