Female officers who clear the boards will be given command responsibilities and may be considered for future promotion to higher ranks in the force. After the Indian Army recently allowed women officers in command roles, Colonel Geeta of the crops of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers became the first woman officer to head an independent field workshop in the eastern Ladakh sector with China. “Colonel Geeta Rana of Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers has become the first women officer to take over command of an Independent Field Workshop in a forward and remote location in Eastern Ladakh,” Indian Army officials from Fire and Fury Corps tweeted.
The other officer took command of the EME Independent Workshop after the Army cleared 108 vacancies for the women officers to take command of the independent units in the corp of the Engineers, Ordnance, EME, and other branches.
They said that many posts of women officers have already come out, and such lists will come out soon as the boards are compiled and the results announced. The women officers who cleared the boards would be given command roles, which would be considered for future promotions and to promote higher ranks in the force.
