Just two weeks after suffering horrific burns while working underneath a car, Jay Leno is back on stage. Accidentally, the former “Tonight Show” host sustained second-degree burns. In Hermosa Beach, California’s Comedy Magic Club, the 72-year-old took the stage once more on Sunday. The club’s members welcomed the comedian and his wife, Mavis, with open arms.
According to ET, “welcome back and we love you posters were placed on his welcome.” Leno was in good shape as he enjoyed the evening, and his burns were barely noticeable. Jimmy Brogan and Arsenio Hall opened the show on Leno’s behalf, and Leno also made some jokes about himself and the event.
No comedian would leave the Grossman Burn Center and perform stand-up on a Sunday in Hermosa, Arsenio Hall claimed in an exclusive interview with ET, calling the former host of The Tonight Show “an outstanding guy.” I lost my big toenail last year after someone trod on my foot at the Super Bowl, Hall joked before continuing. After that, I postponed three stand-up performances.
“Jay would like to express his gratitude to everyone for the attention he received and how much he appreciates all of the good wishes. He wishes everyone a happy holiday and is excited to spend Thanksgiving with his family and friends.”
The “Tonight Show” on NBC was hosted by Leno from 2010 to 2014. In 2015, he started presenting his own CNBC program called “Jay Leno’s Garage” after quitting the well-known talk show. He also presented a revival of “You Bet Your Life.”
