Erdogan tells delegates that talks must deliver results

1 min read

As he sets the stage for discussions in Istanbul this morning, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan calls both Ukraine’s Zelensky and Russia’s Putin “valued friends”.

He believes that success in the discussions would open the path for the presidents to meet, which Turkey might also host.

He further informs the Russian and Ukrainian teams that while both sides have “valid concerns”, the time has come for discussions to produce “concrete outcomes”.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan continues his greeting by saying that the negotiations are crucial.

He claims that a “fair peace” will not have a loser and that extending the fight helps no one.

“At such a vital time, we are delighted to host you and to contribute to your efforts to build peace”, he adds, adding, “I hope that our talks and conversations will be fortunate for your nations, our area, and all humanity”.

He has called for a quick ceasefire and said it is up to all parties to put an end to the tragedy.
