England were defeated by West Indies by a chastening 10-wicket defeat on the fourth day of the third Test, resulting in a 1-0 series loss.
After a dreadful third day, they started 103-8, behind by only 10, and the hosts took the final two wickets within the first hour to bowl them out for 120.
Victory in Grenada followed only 30 minutes later, putting a beleaguered England at one of its lowest periods in recent memory.
West Indies won the Richards-Botham trophy after completing their target of 28 runs in five overs.
England has now lost four Test series in a row – five if the unfinished India series, in which Joe Root’s team is behind 2-1 – and is winless in nine matches.
The setback, which follows a dismal 4-0 Ashes loss, drops England to the bottom of the World Test Championship standings and threatens to spark heated discussion over the status of the men’s Test squad.
