Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has established a massive electric car “gigafactory” outside Berlin. Due to licensing issues with the local government, the facility was delayed for eight months. The Tesla Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg is the company’s first European center. Environmentalists complained about a variety of issues, including the plant’s water consumption and the trees cut to construct it. Activists block an entrance to the Tesla manufacturing Gigafactory in Gruenheide, near Berlin, on the first day of its operation.
