On Saturday, An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 hits Istanbul, 6 km South-West of the Goksun district, according to USGS(The United States Geological Survey).

The earthquake’s epicenter was found to be 37.974 N and 36.448 E, respectively, at a depth of 7 kilometers.

The USGS said that the earthquake occurred at 10:44:29 (UTC 05:30).

In Turkey’s Mediterranean region, the district and town of Goksun are a section of the Kahramanmaras Province.

Turkey is still worrying about the loss of the enormous earthquake that affected the country and Syria in the first half of February this year. On 21 February 2023, MoH (Ministry of Health) reported that 1,414 people died, nearly 2,357 were injured, and almost six million people were affected in Syria, including 300,000 displaced people. Significant infrastructure damage has been noticed, with practically 276 destroyed buildings and more than 300 partially damaged, in addition to the destruction of 248 schools.

A destructive earthquake of 7.8 on the Richter scale hit Southern Turkey in the early 6 February (4.17 a.m.), with its epicenter in the Pazarcik district of Kahramanmaras province.

The earthquake affected the neighboring provinces of Hatay, Kahramanmaras, Kilis, Adiyaman, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Elazig, Malatya, Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir, and Adana. About 14 million people live there, including about 1.8 million Syrian refugees.
