Zoom, a platform for video conferences, unveiled a new service that will let customers use their own encryption keys to secure specific data that is held at rest within the Zoom Cloud infrastructure. Customer Managed Key (CMK), the platform’s newest enhanced security product, is intended to help users meet higher compliance requirements, according to the platform.
Customers can choose to encrypt specific Zoom assets, such as cloud recordings, voicemails, and calendar access tokens, using their own encryption keys by using the Customer Managed Key. The assets covered by Zoom CMK include cloud recordings of Zoom Meetings (including transcripts and chat texts), cloud recordings of Zoom Webinars, voicemails and recordings from Zoom Phones, access tokens for Microsoft Teams, calendar access for Zoom Rooms, and more.
