Of the midst of a major increase in COVID-19 cases in the national capital, more than 300 Delhi Police officers, including the Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Additional Commissioner Chinmoy Biswal, have tested positive for coronavirus.
COVID has affected a large number of police officers in all units and at all police stations, including the police headquarters.
Meanwhile, the state health service recorded 22,751 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, the most since May 1 of last year.
The national capital had recorded 25,219 COVID-19 instances as of May 1.
According to a health department report, the positive rate for the day is 23.53 percent. With this, the overall number of COVID-19 cases in the city has risen to 15,49,730, including 60,733 active instances.
In the previous 24 hours, 10,179 persons recovered from the virus, bringing the overall number of recoveries in the national capital to 14,63,837.
However, in the recent 24 hours, the city reported 17 COVID-related fatalities. In Delhi, 25,160 individuals have died as a result of the virus.
A total of 1,800 patients are now hospitalized to the hospital, including 182 suspected COVID-19 patients and 1,618 confirmed COVID-19 patients.
