Covid cases rate spikes in India

India has recorded 58,097 new COVID-19 cases, a 55.4 percent increase over yesterday’s instances. According to the Union Health Ministry, 534 people have died throughout the country in the previous 24 hours.

India has been accelerating its immunisation campaign across the country. Over 147 crore COVID vaccination doses have been provided to the eligible population. Those aged 15 to 18 are now getting immunised.

The current recovery rate is 98.01 percent. In the previous 24 hours, at least 15,389 individuals have recovered. There are a total of 3,43,21,803 persons who have recovered.
Active cases account for fewer than 1% of total cases, which presently stands at 0.61 percent. The active caseload is 2,14,004.

The weekly positivity rate is 2.60%, whereas the daily positivity rate is 4.18%.
As COVID instances continue to grow, some states have enacted limitations such as night curfews.

During the time period covered by the most recent Health Ministry estimates, 534 persons died from COVID. This includes 432 fatalities in Kerala in recent months, which were added based on pending petitions following the previous Supreme Court recommendations.
