On a visit to the Gulf area, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson proclaimed a mission to establish an international coalition against Russia and wean the country off its reliance on its oil and gas exports. He will meet with officials in Abu Dhabi and Riyadh to discuss oil, regional security, and humanitarian aid. The purpose of the visit is to emphasise the need of working together to put diplomatic and economic pressure on President Vladimir Putin’s administration while minimising global impact from the Ukraine issue. The world must wean itself off Russian hydrocarbons and deprive Putin of his oil and gas addiction. The UK government intends to phase out imports of Russian oil products and may prohibit the country from importing natural gas. The project is estimated to generate over 700 employment during construction, which will begin next year, and around 240 full-time jobs once it is fully functioning.
