US President Joe Biden seemed to address an Indiana congresswoman who had recently passed away in a vehicle accident when addressing her during a White House press conference. Even as Biden repeated asking Jackie, “Are you here?” the reporters in attendance at the occasion were struck speechless by this memory lapse. Jackie where are you?

The Biden administration promised $8 billion during the event on “Hunger, Nutrition, and Health” in an effort to eradicate hunger and reduce illnesses linked to nutrition by 2030. Biden highlighted the late Jackie Walorski while he was thanking the lawmakers who had taken part in the ceremony on Thursday.

“I want to thank all of you here, including bipartisan, elected officials like a representative of government Sen. Braun, Sen. Booker, Representative Jackie, are you here? Where’s Jackie?” But it appears that he realized Walroski’s passing in the middle of the conversation. I believe she was going to be here to assist in making this happen.

And as was to be expected, queries about Biden’s gaffe during the event were repeatedly directed at White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. On August 3, an automobile accident claimed the lives of Walorski and two of her assistants. In 2013, she started her tenure in Congress. The congresswoman was the co-chair of the House Hunger Caucus until she passed away. She collaborated with Senators Jim McGovern, Mike Braun, and Cory Booker to pass the legislation authorizing the first White House Conference on Hunger in 50 years.

In particular, Biden had expressed sorrow at her departure, noting that he and his first wife Jill Biden were both “shocked and saddened” by her passing. In her honor, flags were lowered at half-staff at the White House. According to Jean-Pierre, Biden was “acknowledging her amazing job,” and the US president had already decided to host the congresswoman’s family at the White House for a bill signing on Friday.
