After missing the October 2021 target, Bengaluru is expected to receive its first double-decker flyover in June.
Vehicles will utilise the bottom deck of the double-decker flyover, while Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited will use the upper deck (BMRCL).
According to a BMRCL official, “the crucial and challenging task of the double-decker facility is launching and fastening wings to the spine section of the road-level flyover.”
The road-cum-rail flyover between Ragigudda and Central Silk Board (3.35km) on Marenahalli Road is currently under construction. This would be the first time in Bengaluru that a Metro line will operate above a flyover.
Cities like Jaipur, Nagpur and Mumbai have similar structures.
“Of the 3.3km road bridge, only around 1km of work is pending. It will be completed by June 2022,” said BMRCL chief public relations officer BL Yashwanth Chavan.
