Before collapsing into a hill, a Chinese plane was travelling at the speed of sound

            According to flight-tracking data, the China Eastern Airlines jet that crashed on Monday was travelling nearly at the speed of sound just before slamming into the mountainside.

On Monday, a Chinese plane carrying 132 passengers crashed in China’s southern Guangxi region. According to a Bloomberg article based on flight-tracking data, the jet was travelling at nearly the speed of sound moments before it smashed into a mountain.

According to Flightradar24 data, the jet was travelling at more than 640 miles (966 kilometres) per hour and may have surpassed 700 mph at various times right before the catastrophic crash.
