According to BBC’s -verified footage, it shows many high-rise buildings being bombarded by Russian artillery in Mariupol, Ukraine’s southern port city.

The event occurred on Sunday, after days of heavy pounding by Russian armed forces.

According to Ukrainian officials, Mariupol has been under constant shelling since Russian soldiers surrounded it on March 2, killing an estimated 2,187 people.

Since then, the approximately 400,000 people who remain in the city have had no access to water, food, or medication.

The Ukrainian government’s repeated attempts to transport supplies have been thwarted by Russian bombardment, heightening worries of a humanitarian disaster.
