Andhra car-truck collision, 9 dead

            On Sunday, at least nine persons were killed in an accident involving a lorry and a vehicle in Andhra Pradesh.

According to the information, the accident occurred in the state’s Ananthapuram district, in the Budagavi village. Venkata Swamy, Sub Inspector of Police, Uravakonda Police Station, commented on the accident, stating that the automobile was carrying a total of nine passengers, including the driver.

“The victims were on their way back to Nimmagallu. The police have opened an inquiry and have lodged a complaint”, Venkata Swamy said.

According to authorities, the vehicle was travelling at a fast speed when it lost control and collided with a car approaching from the opposite way.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sympathies to the families of those killed in a traffic accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Ananthapuram on Monday.

The prime minister also declared that the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will provide ex-gratia compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the deceased’s nearest of kin.

“We are saddened by the loss of life in a terrible accident in the Ananthapuram district of Kerala. Condolences to the families who have lost loved ones. The PMNRF would pay ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the deceased’s nearest of kin: PM Modi”, PMO India tweeted.
