Pyongyang has launched two short-range ballistic missiles from the Pyongyang area toward the nation’s east coast, marking the country’s fourth missile test in a week. Several missiles were reportedly shot from North Korea on Saturday morning, and are thought to have landed in the Sea of Japan despite being outside of Japan’s exclusive economic zone.

In a statement released at 6:47 am local time on Saturday (21:47 GMT), the Japanese coastguard said that “What appears to be a ballistic missile was launched from North Korea,”. About 15 minutes later, the coastguard released a second bulletin claiming that another alleged ballistic missile launch had occurred.

According to a tweet from Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan, the most recent missile launch is being examined, and directives have been given to ensure the safety of people, planes, and ships.
