Former chief minister and Punjab Lok Congress president Amarinder Singh acknowledged defeat on Thursday and congratulated the Aam Aadmi Party on its win in the state Assembly elections.
Amarinder Singh, 79, was beaten by Aam Aadmi Party candidate Ajit Pal Singh Kohli of Patiala (Urban) by a vote count of 19,873. He founded the Punjab Lok Congress, which ran in the state Assembly elections alongside the BJP and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa’s SAD. Amarinder Singh complimented the AAP and its chief minister, Bhagwant Singh Mann, on their “eloquent win.”
