Ahmedabad municipal police detained 330 persons and fined 1,822 people a total of Rs 18.22 lakh for breaching the city’s night curfew and failing to wear masks on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to a senior police officer with the Ahmedabad City Police, Rs 18.22 lakh in penalties were collected from persons who did not wear masks in public areas. According to the police official, additional night patrol teams have been dispatched to guarantee that the night curfew is properly implemented after 11 p.m.
According to The Indian Express, in the light of a surge in coronavirus infections in Ahmedabad, the municipal police have upped their crackdown on offenders, issuing 326 FIRs in the previous two days.
According to a senior police officer, 72 cars were confiscated, and penalties of up to Rs 10 lakh were recovered for violating the night curfew and other conditions.

Because of a surge in Covid cases in Ahmedabad, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) declared on Wednesday that AMTS and BRTS buses will only be permitted to operate at half capacity beginning January 6. The AMC will deploy teams as well as vigilance teams across the city to ensure that the instructions are followed.
