An American Airlines passenger faces up to 20 years in jail after hitting a flight attendant after being denied coffee. The passenger on Flight 377 from San Jose del Cabo to LAX was removed after attempting to shift to a seat near the first-class cabin.
Alexander Tung Cuu Lee can be seen being detained by other passengers and arrested upon touchdown in a video of the incident. He was apparently babbling to himself about ‘killers’ on the California-bound flight and threatened the male flight attendant when he was offered aid. Following the incident, Los Angeles Airport Police led the man off the plane once it landed.
Not only that, but he has been permanently barred from flying with the carrier and may face federal charges. “Acts of violence against our team members are not allowed by American Airlines,” stated airline spokesperson Derek Walls. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) described the incident as “hazardous” and “life-threatening,” citing a pattern of similar attacks on airline employees.
