An armed gunman masquerading as a dental patient murdered a Chinese-Pakistani dual national and injured two others at a clinic in Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi, police said. A man approached the private hospital in the Saddar neighborhood around 4 pm local time (11:00 GMT) on Wednesday and opened fire 15-20 minutes later, killing Chinese-Pakistani employee Ronald Raymond Chou on the spot and injuring Richard Hu and Phen Teyin, according to Senior Superintendent of Police Syed Asad Raza.
Hu and Teyin, who are both Chinese-Pakistani nationals, have been transported to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Hu has been in charge of the clinic for nearly 40 years. CCTV footage from the clinic and neighboring stores was obtained in an attempt to identify the perpetrator, who was dressed in a red hat, blue pants, and shirt. He escaped the scene on a motorcycle parked around the corner from the clinic with the assistance of an accomplice. The area has been blocked off so that authorities may gather further evidence.
