India will prohibit 54 additional Chinese applications due to security concerns.

According to insiders, the Indian government would prohibit 54 additional Chinese applications that pose a security risk to the country.

According to ANI, the “Government of India will prohibit 54 Chinese applications that pose a danger to India’s security”.

Beauty Camera: Sweet Selfie HD, Beauty Camera – Selfie Camera, Equalizer & Bass Booster, CamCard for SalesForce Ent, Isoland 2: Ashes of Time Lite, Viva Video Editor, Tencent Xriver, Onmyoji Chess, Onmyoji Arena, AppLock, Dual Space Lite are among the 54 Chinese applications.

Earlier this year, India banned 59 Chinese smartphone applications, including popular social media platforms such as TikTok, WeChat, and Helo, citing a danger to the country’s sovereignty and security.

The bulk of the applications prohibited in the June 29 directive were reported by intelligence services as potentially gathering user data and transferring it “outside”.

This action was taken in response to the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers and an indeterminate number of Chinese soldiers after fierce battles in Galwan Valley in Eastern Ladakh during border tensions with China.

Later that month, the Indian government prohibited 118 Chinese mobile applications, citing them as “prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, state security, and public order”.

China, on the other hand, has opposed to India’s decision to keep the ban on Chinese mobile applications in place, saying that it breaches World Trade Organization non-discrimination standards.
