Elephant family is seen attempting to jump the barriers alongside a railway track

In the footage, an elephant family is seen attempting to jump the barriers alongside a railway track in Tamil Nadu’s Nigiris. Users were sympathetic to the situation of the elephants after seeing the film, and the necessity for wildlife corridors was extensively debated.

As seen in a video posted on Twitter by Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Supriya Sahu, the elephants, which included calves, strolled down the train line before safely jumping over and passing the wall. While mitigation barriers around highways and railway tracks are meant to prevent accidents and animal-human conflicts, elephants in the film were seen straining to re-enter the adjoining forest. Fortunately, there was no train on the tracks at the moment.
