The Indian Railways has decided to extend the route of the Tata Nagar-Jammu Tawi and Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi trains up to Bhubaneswar and Puri in Odisha for the convenience of train passengers.
In addition, the Railways stated that the trains will run on their expanded itineraries once the fog on these lines has cleared.
According to the latest Railways updates, the itineraries of the Tata Nagar-Jammu Tawi and Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi trains have been expanded to ease passenger travel to Jharkhand and Odisha.
Meanwhile, media sources indicated that numerous Odisha legislators have long lobbied the Ministry of Railways to extend these trains to Bhubaneswar and Puri.
It should be remembered that Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw attended the launching ceremony of the Puri-Hatia-Puri Express train with LHB carriages last week.
Aside from that, the Indian Railways plans to replace obsolete coaches with LHB coaches on Tata-Jammu Tawi and Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi trains between April and May of this year. In addition, with the addition of LHB coaches, the number of reserved spaces will grow by 172.
Meanwhile, owing to non-interlocking work between Tangarmunda between Chakradharpur and Bamada, the Indian Railways has cancelled at least six Jharkhand-bound trains until January 12.
