1 arrested for smuggling Indian star tortoise in Andhra Pradesh

            Officials from the Andhra Pradesh Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) apprehended one individual for allegedly smuggling star tortoises, an endangered species classified under Schedule 4 of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1974.

On the basis of intelligence, officials caught Selvakumar Ravikumar, Ravikumar’s son, as he was illegally smuggling Star tortoises.

In addition, 250 Star tortoises were rescued by officials.

Selvakumar was arrested and afterwards turned over to officers from the forest department for further legal action. A complaint has been filed in accordance with different parts of the Wild Life (Protection) Act of 1972.
